Abstract
The purpose of this program is to improve the skills of farmers in utilizing plant litter, agricultural waste, animal manure to be used as compost, which later the compost can be sold in the market or used by farmers themselves in increasing the business of cultivating vegetable crops. The use of agricultural waste and animal manure as compost has not been optimally carried out by the farming community in overcoming the scarcity of fertilizer in farming communities, therefore composting is an alternative in creating natural fertilizers made by farmers themselves so as to answer the scarcity of fertilizers which in turn improves the quality of soil health, produces healthy plant products, ultimately increases farmers' income. The solutions offered in the program are the presentation of composting materials, how to apply to plants, assistance in plant cultivation business activities, postharvest handlers so that plant products can be maintained healthily. With the hope that farmers as partners accompanied by students can produce organic fertilizer (compost) that is sold to the market, from compost, farmer partners can increase crop production and increase their income. The stages of activities from socialization, presentation of counseling materials, making demonstrations of compost plots and plots of plant cultivation with stages of land preparation, seedbeds, making maps, planting, fertilizing, irrigation, maintaining plants accompanied by students to harvesting and marketing the results of cultivated plants cultivated. Compost applicationprovides a noticeable effect on plant height, number of leaves and fresh weight of chasim plant harvest. Keywords: Training, compost, Farmer, Production, chaisim
