Abstract

The ultimate strength of the structure is the maximum load that the structure can carry before it collapses. Structural reinforcement needs to be applied to structures that have decreased in strength. This decrease in strength is due to improper initial design, age of the structure, changes in loading, lack of structural maintenance or due to natural events such as earthquakes. Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) is one of the solutions that can be used today because it has advantages such as corrosion resistance, lighter material, high strength, easy installation and good durability. In this study, the specimens used in the form of reinforced concrete blocks with dimensions of 10 cm x 15 cm x 60 cm totaled 9 test objects. The quality of the concrete used is 20 MPa. The test specimens were made in 3 variations, namely reinforced concrete beams without GFRP reinforcement functioning as control beams given the symbol BN as many as 3 pieces, the second variation of reinforced concrete beams being reinforced with GFRP directly given the symbols BG-1, BG-2, and BG-3. The three variations of reinforced concrete beams that have been tested and have experienced failure or post ultimate load and reinforced with GFRP are given the symbols BGPU-1, BGPU-2, and BGPU-3. The data observed are the maximum load and deflection. The results showed that direct GFRP reinforcement beams can increase the load by 13.02%-22.94% and the deflection increases by 27.85%-34.21%. For GFRP reinforcement after ultimate load, the load increased by 6.51%-11.76% and the deflection increased by 11.18%-18.62%
